Shot Marking and Reel Building

ShotWork is a desktop app that turns long footage into a library of tagged shots and finished reels. Mark every moment worth keeping in one pass, tag it with fields that fit your work, then batch-export the shots as clips or build your reel right in the app.

Free, with no account and no time limit. The license is a one-time purchase. Windows and macOS.

ShotWork with a shot list open: footage in the viewer, a shot selected in the list, and its tags and rating filled in beside it.

Comes with a preset for VFX / animation, or build your own.

How it works

  1. 1 Mark

Play through hours of footage once and set in and out points on every moment worth keeping. Mark the best frames inside a shot too with Interest points, so the reel knows where the good part is. No scrubbing back and forth, and no exporting clips one at a time.

  2. 2 Tag

Give each shot the fields your work needs from a metadata preset, along with tags, ratings and notes. Search and filter the whole library in seconds, and flag anything that is not cleared for public use.

  3. 3 Build

Arrange shots on a reel timeline, add title cards and overlays from a template, snap cuts to the beat of your music, and export the finished reel. Or batch-export the shots as clips, each with a JSON sidecar that carries its metadata. Need more control? Send the reel to Resolve, Premiere or Final Cut to finish it there.

Marking shots, describing them, cutting reels and exporting them all work without a license. Nothing is cut down and nothing runs out, and you can use it for years without paying. That is intentional.

A license adds four things: your own overlay templates, reel video at any size without the built-in mark, timeline export for other apps, and the AI assistant.
